A man from Vermillion Parish, Lousiana, was performing his job on an offshore oil rig operated by Stone Energy Corporation, Stone Energy Offshore LLC, H&H Well Services Inc., and Wood Group PSN Inc. on August 10, 2015. On this day, George W. Yanna, Jr. was injured and permanently disfigured from piping that suddenly and unexpectedly released uncontrolled pressure.

The lawsuit was filed against the parties named above on March 28, 2016, and the plaintiff is seeking damages for injury, medical expenses, lost wages, physical and mental anguish, and permanent disfigurement. The plaintiff and his attorneys claim that the release of uncontrolled pressure from the piping on the offshore oil rig was due to the explicit negligence of the parties named above, which resulted in the injuries to the plaintiff and other employees.

In addition to all damages, the plaintiff is seeking a trial by jury, general and special, legal interest, court costs, and any further compensation or restitution that the court grants.

Oil Rig Injuries

Although offshore oil rigs provide employment opportunities for individuals in Texas, Louisiana, and other states near the Gulf of Mexico, these rigs can be a dangerous place to work. Great care must be taken in order to keep workers safe and out of harms way. When negligence occurs and the oil rig and/or its equipment is not properly maintained by the entity or entities in charge of the rig, serious and even deadly injuries can occur.

Around the same time in August 2015, a man slipped and fell on an offshore oil rig operated by Chevron, and the plaintiff claims serious and permanent bodily injury and disfigurement due to Chevron’s negligence to maintain a safe work environment on the rig.

Were You or a Loved One Injured on an Offshore Oil Rig?

If you or someone you love were hurt while performing their job on an offshore oil rig, you may be able to seek compensation for the damages you incurred as a result of the injury.
