Shop N' Save slip and falls

While some slip and fall accidents can be minor, others can be more serious. No one knows this better than Bellevue resident Deveon Edwards. On August 8, 2015, Edwards shopped at a local Shop ‘N Save, slipped on a wet floor and fell violently to the ground. Edwards sustained multiple and permanent injuries.

The Case

A claim for unspecified damages was filed in St. Clair County, Illinois, on September 30, 2016. The claim alleges that the victim was lawfully walking as a patron in the grocery store when she slipped on a spilled liquid. Edwards fell to the floor and suffered serious injuries, many of which are permanent. The suit alleges that the victim suffered greatly due to her injuries. Additionally, she incurred expenses, including lost wages and medical bills. The suit claims that Edwards will continue to suffer due to the injuries she sustained during the fall.

The claim was filed against Shop ‘N Save Warehouse Foods Inc. and Supervalue Inc. It suggests that the store owners and management were negligent in the operation of their grocery store. They failed in their duty to provide a safe place for shoppers, allowed a slippery substance to remain on the floor without being cleaned, and failed in their responsibility to warn shoppers of dangerous conditions that existed on their premises.
