On May 3, Juan Meza filed a personal injury lawsuit against Home Depot, Inc. for damages sustained after he tripped on a wooden pallet left in the aisle of the Kenner store on May 18, 2015.
On May 18th, the plaintiff claims he was shopping at a Home Depot store located at 2625 Veterans Blvd. in Kenner. As he was walking down the aisle, his foot became caught on a wooden pallet that had been in the walkway. Subsequently, he suffered injuries after tripping and falling on the pallet.
Home Depot’s Negligence
The lawsuit alleges that Home Depot was negligent in its duty of care to its patrons by failing to maintain a safe shopping environment. The lawsuit also alleges that Home Depot was negligent in proper employee training, was negligent in adhering to proper safety protocol, failed to warn of a dangerous condition in the store, and allowed a dangerous condition to exist without removing the hazard to patrons in the store.
The plaintiff, Juan Meza, is seeking an unspecified amount of damages. The lawsuit was filed on May 3rd in the 24th Judicial District Court. Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer has been assigned the case.
